APRIL COUNCIL NOTES

Below is some of the information and actions of the council:

While all is well with our finances, we are seeing about a $500.00 per month decrease in giving.

Pastor reported that he would start a New Members Class on April 25 and have the reception of members on May 23.

Service & Outreach team reported that they made a little over $700 on the Easter Egg sale. This money will go to Relay for Life. They are planning on having a Flea Market/Yard Sale on Saturday, May 22 from 8:00am until 1:00pm.

Christian Education indicated that Ben Ashton is interested in attending YouthConvo that will be held at Thiel College June 16-19th. His expenses will be covered from the Youth Ministry line of the Christian Education budget.

  • Property Issues:
    • Painting of the church is almost complete and looks very nice.
    • Plans are being made for a church “Clean-Up” day – Friday, May 7th starting at 6:00pm.
    • New carpeting for the two office rooms was approved.
    • The current “coat racks” in the hallway will be replaced with hooks on the wall. This will make more space in the halls.

Use of the church building: approval was given for the Red Cross to have a Blood Drive on Tuesday, May 11th from Noon until 6:00pm.
Faye Menhart will coordinate the recruitment of volunteers from the church.

Approval was also given for a 3 week period of time July 12-30 for English classes for foreign exchange students from France. Class time will be 9:00am-4:00pm. There will be 8 students and two teachers (Lori Ashton will be one of the teachers)

Approval was given to have Andrea Dubler and Chris Decker be the Voting Members to the Synod Assembly.
PENTECOST SUNDAY

Pentecost Sunday, May 23, 2010 is a festival Sunday in the church year. In keeping with the liturgical color for the day….Red….we ask that if you are able, please wear something red that day.

Come and celebrate the “gift of the Holy Spirit” in the life of the church.
